Erik Voorhees has been selected as the newest member of the Crypto Hall of Fame, the equivalent of the Rock’n’Roll of Fame for the Crypto World. His portrait painted by Max Cryptohead will be disclosed today at the Latin American Bitcoin Conference in El Salvador.
The portrait will be the thirteenth in Max Cryptohead’s series 21 Heads, which features pioneers of the crypto movement. Each painting is represented by a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) which can be traded on various marketplaces. Other crypto pioneers of this series include Satoshi Nakamoto, the inventor of Bitcoin, David Chaum, the inventor of e-cash, and Nick Szabo, the inventor of smart contracts.
Erik Voorhees is the radical libertarian founder of ShapeShift, a formerly centralized crypto exchange that decentralized into the ShapeShift DAO in 2021. Formerly Erik was Head of Marketing at BitInstant, the first VC-backed Bitcoin company in 2012, and also the creator of the gambling site SatoshiDICE, which was responsible for half of all Bitcoin transactions prior to 2014.
The decision to induct Erik to the Crypto Hall of Fame was made by a selection committee consisting of nine crypto experts, mostly crypto journalists.
The induction ceremony will take place at 2pm El Salvador time (= 3 pm EST) and will be streamed live via Labitconf.com, the Talent Network and Bitcoin Magazine.
